TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF….

Hi! I’m Gabriella. Architectural designer, mum of three, Brightonian, lover of nature, obsessor of chocolate.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

100% nature. It’s consistency yet the way it surprises us. It’s utterly beautiful. I love the forms created by light and shadow.  The way being amongst nature can flip your mind-frame in an instant. And the starling murmurations on the coast that continue to mesmerise me year in year out.

WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?

I have to say my kids here, don’t I. Becoming a mother of twins at 20 was a magical shock to the system, but I’ve had the ability to grow mentally alongside my children's physical growth.  Kids see so much magic in the world, and that is an enviable ability that we tend to grow out of.

Nonetheless, I feel the need to put in here, however much I adore my children, having time to spend on myself, by myself, makes me incredibly happy. I’ve always enjoyed my own company.  I love wondering through town, browsing charity shops and finding a spot in a coffee shop and people watching.

WHO IS YOUR STYLE ICON AND WHY?

Ah! I don’t think I have one! I’ve never really read magazines, nor followed ‘trends’. I like wearing things that are comfortable, that fit my body well, and make me feel good. I think feeling good should come before looking good. Although, usually the two go hand in hand, those who feel good, end up looking great!

WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND READING AT THE MOMENT?

Music wise - Van Morrison, Hymns to the Silence. Our daughters were born to this album, so it will always bring me out in goosebumps.

Books - nothing at the moment, luckily my work has picked up after the Covid slump so I spend my evenings working.  However, the most recent book I read was, ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Hosseini, which was remarkable.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SIDELINE?

The quality, it’s individuality, the detailing and it’s commitment to sustainability. Each Sideline piece I own, is in the same state as it was when initially purchased. It holds it’s shape, and the fabric remains perfect. This may be seen as contrary to some, but I adore how Sideline doesn’t follow trends.  All pieces are timeless, by design and fabric choice. They will never be unfashionable - which leads on to my next point, sustainability.  Sideline pieces can be worn for decades, meaning the impact on the earth wear to wear, is very low. This is in addition to the many things Sideline strive to do for our planet. The recycled denim all the way to the packaging choices.
